@53 No, it’s not. That game was a flaming car wreck. This is just a car wreck before the petrol ignites.

@55 I’ve played it to completion.
It’s a better game than AVP 2010, but the technical issues make it suffer worse. Technically it’s worse yes, but as a game it’s better and more faithful to the canon. That’s not saying much.
It’s still rubbish. I’m not defending it.

Wow Dave, you really hate AVP2010. What did it do to you?
Not all the scores are in, but A:CM hasn’t got off the a great start on metacritic

@58 It’s a travesty.
AvP is worse in terms of game design, handling, plot and rote aesthetics.
A:CM is better in staying true to the source, the gameplay is miles better and the aliens act and behave more authentically.
However, A:CM is ultimately worse due to its technical issues and lack of polish.
In terms of barebones control and aesthetic A:CM wins over AvP, but overall A:CM loses out.
Hope this helps explain better

@57 I guess some people just don’t like unfinished games no matter how true to the cannon they are, especially since it was first announced back in 2006…PLEASE do me a favor and try hard to find out what the fuck happened then!

“A:CM is better in staying true to the source, the gameplay is miles better and the aliens act and behave more authentically.”
Canon. Canon, canon, canon. Faithful to the source…….
Exactly what everyone was blabbing about a few months back, the only thing that they could sell knowing how awful this would be –
http://www.vg247.com/2012/12/11/aliens-colonial-marines-assholes-and-elbows/
Watched a YT playthrough over the weekend, and the so-called story is as detrimental to the experience as the bugs and glitches throughout. Laughable in places, clichéd and corny at best, and very little explanation for those “wtf ?” questions.
As for the authentic movement – http://i.minus.com/i212wUcwcU0eE.gif
Say no more.
At least Rebellion’s AvP is equally awful, but with the benefit of the two other campaigns, and is available for pennies now. A:CM will need a week or two to become that cheap.

The game wont start. No executable file. I hear it is a wide spread thing in Australia and New Zealand, but I’m from the U.K and this is just ridiculous for a new game. Seeing as it didn’t even start I gotta rate it as N/A as a game. Also the ratings it’s getting….geesss. Don’t buy it.

Authentic? Canon? Don’t make me laugh.
Giant ‘bull’ Aliens and other new Alien types..
The Nuked facility is mysteriously radiation- and damage-free?
The only Canon this game comes close to is the one it should be fired from… into the sun.

@72 It’s more authentic to the canon than AvP. Massively.
I know because I’ve finished it.

It’s Gearbox. I said since the game’s trailer was released that this will be a shitty game.
It’s the same trainwreck as Duke Nukem Forever but worse because it is a new game based on the “franchise”.
Call Of Duty developers after this deserve Oscar and you can call their shitty corridor shooter GOOD compared to this one.
But my problem is that because of Gearbox, SEGA suffered. I like SEGA a lot. : (

‘More authentic than AvP’ is more authentic than something completely un-authentic! Deputy Dawg is about as authentic as AvP.
A:CM claims authenticity yet spits acid in the face of the events of the film it supposedly follows.
Besides, anything to come from Paul W.S. Anderson or related to his ‘works’ is to be purged from memory. The man is a walking insult to the world’s collective intelligence.

@73
As did I, as stated, by watching a full playthrough. Thankfully we live in an age where you can rely on review copies, and we can watch YT/streams, and neither one of us has to waste money, eh ?
Piss poor argument, as is:
“It’s more authentic to the canon than AvP. Massively.”
Errr, who disputed that ? I stated that the sorry plot of A:CM shouldn’t be considered canon on the whim of a few hack writers and FOX execs. Merely suggested a cheaper, safer option, and AvP didn’t try to arse up 20 years of history.
But then, you’ve been hyping this for ages, and it’s difficult to defend an indefensible position.
@74
But it wasn’t Gearbox.
It was all Timegates fault !

@68 At that event I played 20 minutes of the campaign. I couldn’t – in any right frame of mind – comment on the full package at that point.
As it ended up, the full package was dreadful.
I’m really confused as to why people think I’m defending the game. You DID read my review properly right? Go back and read it again if you didn’t.

@76: Gearbox were ready to reap the praise, they’d better not try to duck the criticism! SEGA set them the task, promoted them as the makers – that GEARBOX sought to outsource responsibility is on them, while they concentrated on whatever of Borderlands they did.

@80: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Alien_morphs_in_the_Alien_franchise#Alien_morphs_in_the_toy_line …have you even seen a Snake Alien? It must be like a chestburster that survives the process, not evolving but continuing to grow. There was a nice independent toy shop down the road that sold the line. They were quality products, even if an amount of the featured characters had fleeting relation to the film, and was just to sell more toys. They were up there with the Jurassic Park series (same company, I think, too)

First Dead Space 3 undershoots its mark, now Aliens: CM bombs…my hopes for 2013 sci-fi are being dashed all over the tarmac.
Here’s hoping Remember Me and (gulp) Star Trek fare better.

Oh calm down, dearie.
It was the original article I linked to, full of praise and positives. One of the few previews that I’d read that didn’t offer any hint of criticism or caution.
A lot of other sites saw this for the dog’s dinner they knew it’d be, as did many folk based on the “Borderlands funded by A:CM/SEGA cash” rumour that floated about for years, in combination with the development hell you seemed to be ignorant of.
But hey, shout at me all you want, mate (really ?), and fire off news stories from my links.
I don’t mind.

Nothing in that hands-on session sparked caution in my mind. It was a carefully selected cross-section of the campaign and multiplayer geared to make the game feel brilliant.
I’m not shouting at you, just calmly, merely stating that I was not intentionally hyping the game up. My review shows that I’m not happy with the end result. Is a person not allowed to change their opinion on a game?
If a game feels shit, I’ll say it is.
Surely you must understand why I have to make this clear, right?
Yes ‘mate’. I try to get along with everyone here, but clearly you’re not interested. Fair enough.

Sot sure what movie you watched, but they never “nuked it from orbit” they let the atmospheric processor blow, which was good enough, but you don’t know if the explosion was nuclear or anything, also the processor was not right next to Hadley’s Hope, it was quite some distance away.

Gametrailers gave it a 5.9
I actually think they spent more time photoshopping the screen shots than making the game better.
This is just a complete and utter waste. I am a massive Alien franchise fan, I love ALL the movies, yes even 3 and 4 but I hate the V Predator ones they suck ass. I am shocked that Fox let these people have the rights to the movie lore.
