Ouya promises "quick" certification process

Ouya hopes to expedite the approval process for developers keen to get their games onto the Android-based console.

Ouya's process sounds similar to that of Google Play or, on its good days, the App Store, as opposed to Sony and Microsoft's longer certification processes.

"It's similar to mobile: they'll submit their games, and we'll review for intellectual property infringement, and malware, and excessive pornography," CEO Julie Uhrman told Engadget

"But ultimately it's a quick review and you're in the storefront in one capacity or another."

Developers will be able to begin submitting their games soon, with Uhrman suggesting the process will open somewhere in the "middle-to-end of this month".

"We literally just opened the ability for developers to upload their games into the store. We're building that right now. We are a start-up like any other start-up, it's just-in-time business," she added.

Ouya is expected in stores in June, at $99; Kickstarter backers should already have their hardware by March.

Thanks, MCV.
