Rayman Legends confirmed for PS3 & Xbox 360 release

Rayman Legends was originally billed as a Wii U exclusive, but it’s now coming to PS3 and Xbox 360, Ubisoft has confirmed.

In a statement sent to VG247, Ubisoft confirmed the game would hit both formats at some point in September. Developer of the Wii U version Ubisoft Montpellier is also creating the PS3 and Xbox 360 editions.

“We heard from many Xbox & Playstation owners and Rayman fans who told us they really wanted to play Rayman officer. ”We decided to give the fans what they wanted while at the same time broadening the audience exposed to this innovative and memorable game.”

It comes as the Wii U edition has been delayed a few times already.

I don’t see how it can work on other consoles. The WiiU touch screen is used extensively. It won’t work with a regular twin-stick.

You just get rid of the gamepad playing character, or toss it over the being Move controlled on the PS3. So its just going to be more or less like Origins.

Forget me, I was thinking of the Rayman game already on WiiU. No way that is possible without the Gamepad.

This is the one you’ve played already. It’s not out yet – last date was March, but implication is all versions now September.

I can’t really see how it’ll be done on a regular pad either. It’ll certain lose something.

It’s great that it’s coming out on Xbox and PS3, but why delay the Wii U version… Did Miyamoto sleep with Michel Ancel’s sister?

According to an update on Polygon, the PS3 / Xbox version isn’t going to include any of the tablet-specific features. So it’s basically a totally separate version of the game.

Unless something has gone wildly wrong in development and they need another 6 months for bug-fixing, there is no reason for the Wii U version to be delayed as well.

I hope it comes for the Vita too. I bought it on PS3 and Vita, and while playing it with friends on TV, I still spent most time with the game on Vita. (But this time, cross save would be great)

Great news for people with limited budgets like myself. This and Bayonetta 2 are the games that I would have forced myself to get a Wii U for. I guess I’ll get this for 360 and wait until Wii U is discounted to get Bayonetta 2 for it.

First they Push the Release Date Back to Februar. So they must have thought it can be done in this Time. And now they realize that it needs more than a half Year more Time to do the Game? How in the World are these Guys planning such a Project? Just throw some Darts at a Calendar?

Not surprised at all. Has been obvious from the start that this game would in no way stay excluive to the Wii U. Atleast to me, and I guess a lot of other people.

As for how it will work without the gamepad? Well the Wii U gamepad only controls one of the characters. A supporting character. You can play the game alone or with a partner without it so they would just exclude that character for the PS3/360 version.

@22
You’ve not played the demo have you? You’d have to take out whole levels which are dependent on that character.

@23

Well, what about Kinect/Move support for those levels?

@24
But then the Game is only for People with Kinect and Move. Maybe not a good Idea.
