Habbo Hotel owner Sulake acquired by telecom company Elisa

Habbo Hotel owner Sulake has been purchased by Finnish telecommunications company Elisa for an undisclosed sum.

GI.biz reports that Elisa was an early investor in Sulake, and that the company has now purchased remain stock from other investors, making it the majority shareholder at 85%.

Commenting on the move, Mikael Rönnblad, vice president of Elisa's consumer services business said, "Elisa has had an ownership in Sulake from the beginning and has supported the international expansion of the Habbo Hotel service.

"The global client base, brand, community platform and solid business competence of Sulake, combined with Elisa's expertise, provide new future opportunities."

Habbo Hotel is Sulake's flagship product, which netted the company revenue of €2.2 million last year. It currently sees four million unique users a month.
