Witcher 3: new trailer & in-game screens go live, see them here
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was revealed earlier this week – we’ve got gameplay details by the knapsack-full here – and CD Projekt RED’s teaser trailer is now live, showing a blood-stained wolf motif you’re probably familiar with by now. Does this mean Geralt is going to bite the bullet in this game? Well, it is confirmed to be his final adventure after all.
Thanks to Playing Daily for the clip.
Meanwhile, Game Informer has some gameplay screens that show off many of the Witcher 3′s open world locations, mounted traversal, combat and images of one of the game’s taverns.
They’re smothered in Game Informer watermarks so I won’t post them here. But you can see all of them on AGB.

These are next generation graphics? I know its going to get better from here on out but its not the leap from PS2 – PS3

@1 maybe not mate. They could be early development shots.

I doubt they’d kill off Geralt. While I don’t believe that their games are actually considered canon anyway, I think that it would be really weird to have him die in their game only to (presumably) live on in the books.

Even in the current state the it looks glorious in those screenshots, can’t wait to see the final version of the game.
@1 From GameInformer:
CD Projekt RED has provided the screenshots you see here from its current in-game assets running on its Internal PC development hardware. However, the renderer – the part of the engine that translates the game files into what you ultimately see on screen – is still in development and will boast significant improvements by the time The Witcher 3 ships. “Right now you see the game in the old renderer, but it’s going to be taken to a truly next level,” says gameplay producer Marek ZSiemak. In particular, the developers tell us that skin shaders and the dynamic lighting model will be markedly more advanced in the final version.

Ok we’ll see. There has to be a drastic improvement though. Why even show the game if its not ready?

@1, From PS2 to PS3? Are you retarded?
Your PS3 won’t do this game in proper 720P image. PS2 to PS3. you want to see PS2 game?

@7, I think he meant that those screens doesn’t show as massive leap from current generation as there was in transistion between PS2 to PS3. It’s rather an evolution, not revolution. Although, as you written, it’s development shots, so it’ll certailny improve.

Keep in mind, that it’s open world game, so requirements to run such a game are vastly different from linear level-based games. Data streaming technology greatly stresses game engine, which partially limits visual fidelity.
However, given how good Witcher 2 looks even today, it’s certain, that third entry in the series will look better in it’s final form.

Agree with most of you. Looks current gen. In fact, there are some current-gen games that already look better than this.
Second: Anyone ever see that episode of South Park where they’re waiting the whole time to see the new Terrence & Philip trailer and in the end it’s just dramatic music and a logo? Yeah, that.

@13 There are no OPEN WORLD games that look that good on consoles right now,and the trailer is coming this weekend.

“Looks current Gen” whiners, read #4, all these assets are running through The Witcher 2 renderer.
Screenshots cannot ever truly capture the most impressive factor in The Witchers visuals anyway, which is probably the absolute best animation I’ve ever seen in a videogame. The skeletal animation in TW2 honestly puts the hinged stick model most people are still using to absolute shame.

In before ‘dumbed down combat and gameplay’ for inferior ‘next gen’ consoles…

This does not looks anything like next gen to me either tbh… In fact, I don’t see any difference between this and Witcher-2. Maybe only that it now supports open spaces.
