Webzen snaps up Gala-net, gPotato

Korean MMO publisher Webzen has acquired free-to-play specialist publishers Gala-net Inc and Gala Networks Europe.

The ink is still wet on the paperwork, with the transaction to be settled on February 15, and as yet the two companies aren't able to announce what will happen with the various brands owned by both parties in Europe and the Americas.

That said, Webzen expects to deliver many more of its MMOs to western audiences through Gala's infrastructure, and gPotato games are not at risk.

Gaming portal gPotato boasts of 23 million registered users; it's next game is Age of Wulin.

Webzen is best known in the west for a legal tussle with Firefall.
