Project Gotham 5 in development for Xbox 720 launch – rumour

Project Gotham 5 is said to be in the works for Microsoft’s Xbox 720, according to a fresh report this morning.

According to a report on STFUandPlay – which has since been verified by Polygon writer Aegies via NeoGAF – Microsoft has commissioned the project, and is currently in development at new studio Lucid Games.

It’s a team founded by ex-Criterion and Bizarre Creations staff, so they certainly do know their racing games. Project Gotham 5 has been tipped as an Xbox 720 launch title, similar to the third game, which graced the launch of Xbox 360.

Meanwhile, the PS4 camp is rumoured to have two next-gen racers rumoured in development – one of which is a launch title.

Thanks Gematsu.

Hmmm, so does this mean there will be a new racing wheel too? It may be time to pull the Playseat out from storage.

Excellent, another Pgr, continuation of Xbla and a new Halo is all the new Xbox needs.

Sony can keep their cg teasers and clumsy disc drives.
