Animal Crossing: New Leaf still a hit in Japan

Wednesday, 6th February 2013 14:06 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

Animal Crossing: New Leaf remains in the number one spot on the Media Create charts as does 3DS LL in the hardware sector.

On the software side, Level-5 and Brownie Brown’s Fantasy Life came in second, followed by DmC: Devil May Cry and New Super Mario Bros. 2 for 3DS – which now sits at almost 2 million in sales for the regions.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale debuted this week at number five, and was one of three new releases for the week – when you combine the PSP and PS3 versions of Accel World: Kasoku no Chouten.

Hardware ales were down over the prior week, almost across the board, barring 3DS LL which moved 51,654 units compared to 48,226 the prior week.

Also, Xbox 360 sales were up, with the console shifting 870 units compared to the 611 units moved the week prior. A 360 title isn’t in the top 20, so there must have been a new release somewhere on the full chart.

Here’s the full software chart for the period. Life-to-date sales are in parentheses:

[3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf (Nintendo, 11/08/12) – 65,740 (2,431,866)

MH3 Ultimate (best price!) isn’t selling that much. I guess because it’s an old title? However, it wouldn’t be the Vita system-seller, if ported, I guess.

Does this surprise anyone? This is a day-1 purchase for myself, those who’ve played since the one on GC shouldn’t be surprised. I cannot wait for the social features TBQH.

Poor Vita/Wii U. I love both mine, but you do indeed need some software to showcase hardware. The PS3 seems to still be making strides in it’s homeland.

@1 Yes. I reported that last week, however, the game was released under the BB name, so it stands.

PS All Stars would have done better as a Smash Bros Clone.
