Witcher 3 conculdes Geralt’s adventures, Witcher 2 on sale

Tuesday, 5th February 2013 19:45 GMT By Stephany Nunneley

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be the final episode of the RPG series and the last part of the legend of Geralt of Rivia, CDP has said.

“People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is,” said studio head said Adam Badowski.

“Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note. Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined. This will be the ultimate fantasy RPG experience, and while we’re hardly out of stories to tell, we believe it’s time for us to look to new worlds and new horizons to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can create.”

To celebrate the announcement, as well as the hope that Geralt will ride off happy into the sunset,CDP is putting The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director’s Cut and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition on sale through GoG.com and Steam for 50% off – but only for the next 72 hours.

The Witcher 2: Enhanced Edition on Xbox 360 has also been given a permanent price drop, and will now run you €29.99/$29.99/₤19.99.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be released in 2014 simultaneously on all high-end platforms and PC.

I guess that’s the difference between a business that just wants to accrue money and a business that truly wants to achieve something.

Respect. I hope the series does go out on a high note.

It’s definitely something to be admired i guess, but i wonder if the fans agree. And let’s see what happens when they release this, it’s a huge succes and if they still say the same. :)

A concept doesn;’t have to become tiresome, if done right. Look at Rockstar with GTA. A new GTA each five years or so, and in between you get great stuff like RDR, La Noire and MP3. CD Projekt RED could do that, they more or less ARE, with Cyberpunk.

Fuck ‘em. If they really are fans, they should respect the developers decision.

Sorry, but we will have other games in the same universe. There is an interview with CEO of CD Projekt and he says that it’s the end of Geralt trilogy, but CDP RED is not saying goodbye to this universe.

You must trust me, I can’t paste the link…

    The translation of the interview:

CD Projekt has sold 5 million copies of the first and second parts of the Witcher – said in an interview with PAP CEO Adam Kicinski. The Company announces that the third part of the series premiere, “The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt” will be held in 2014.
“In January and February we achieved sales of nearly 5 million copies of the first and second parts of the Witcher” – said Kicinski.

The President announced that the third part of the game will be released in 2014.

“The release of The Witcher game + 3 + Wild Hunt will take place in 2014. Game will be released at the same time on the PC, and the new, powerful hardware and the new generation of consoles,” – he said.

“This is the last part of the trilogy, in which there will be a grand finale of the story. But it is not clear at the end of the franchise. Franchise will continue,” – he added.

The President announced that The Witcher 3 will combine proven series elements such as non-linear story and a good combat system with a new element, which is an open world (sandbox).

“In the third part of The Witcher storyline will be as developed and non-linear as in the previous section, while the world is open. Area, after which it will move the player, is 30 times greater than in The Witcher 2″ – he said.

He added that the production of The Witcher 3 involved more money than the second part of the series, these expenditures are not significantly higher.

“CAPEX planned for The Witcher 3 is slightly larger than the other part of the game, but not much higher. Input in the new generation does not in fact substantially increase costs. This title has potential profitable but many times larger than anything we’ve done so far.”

Tuesday’s edition of Game Informer, a monthly publication dedicated to video games, largely devoted to the third part of The Witcher, starts campaign game.

“Game Informer, which was released on Tuesday, is on the cover of The Witcher 3, czternastostronicową announcement in the middle of our game. Game Informer magazine is devoted to video games, which is a storehouse of reaching the widest audience of men 18-34 years worldwide. Has circulation of more than 8 million copies, the total extent of 34 million people and convert readership purchasing decisions consecutive 91 percent. ” – Said Kicinski.

“Over the next three weeks Game Informer will have the exclusive right to communication media on the third Witcher expect very much translate it for sale later, a series of The Witcher. Between February and March we will present in other magazines and begin an intensive information campaign. Later the first half of the year will show a lot of new material. promises to be very interesting for our show at E3 June. During the second half of the year we want to conclude agreements with distributors “- he added.

The campaign is also supported sales of The Witcher 2, which will be the main generator of CD Projekt’s financial results in 2013.

“The campaign Witcher 3 will be continued until the release. Contained elements will support the sales of the second part of the game. Believe that two of the relatively new title is still great potential for the sale and will be the main generator of CD Projekt’s financial results in 2013,” – said the president. (PAP )

Looks exactly the same as witcher 2, what a waste of an engine

Yeah and the game’s also finished and coming out tomorrow, right? Please. It’s freaking early, for all we know this could be a late 2014 title.

And yes, this looks like The Witcher 2 on PC, a maxed out PC. Not console.

They already said that what they’ve shown is running through The Witcher 2 renderer because the engine isn’t finished yet.

They did? That’s good to hear. But where did they say that?

“CD Projekt RED has provided the screenshots you see here from its current in-game assets running on its Internal PC development hardware. However, the renderer – the part of the engine that translates the game files into what you ultimately see on screen – is still in development and will boast significant improvements by the time The Witcher 3 ships. “Right now you see the game in the old renderer, but it’s going to be taken to a truly next level,” says gameplay producer Marek ZSiemak. In particular, the developers tell us that skin shaders and the dynamic lighting model will be markedly more advanced in the final version”

    Quoted from GI

Does that mean there are no DX11 effects present in the screens?

Well, it is sad to hear that Geralt will not come again after Witcher3. But when thats the Plan, when what they wanna do with the Witcher is done in 3 Games, than it is so.
But what I think about the end of the Witcher Franchise will depend very much on what the End of Witcher 3 looks like.

Oh please, never say never. Business is business, they might reconsider if 3d game will be a huge success.

Not like I care though, never really liked Witcher games. The only thing it does well is graphics.
