DayZ standalone: first footage released in new devblog

DayZ’s standalone release is really happening, you guys, as this video of it in action confirms.

This is the first video developer diary Bohemia Interactive has released, and as project lead Dean “Rocket” Hall and production assistant Matt Lightfoot stress, it’s very much a work in progress.

Nevertheless, it’s already looking pretty good, and in the video you’ll get to see new maps; the swamp biome; an expanded military base; a new island; the clothing system; and the new loot spawn system.

DayZ’s standalone’s PC release has not been dated, but a closed beta is on the way.

Thanks, Dan.

@2, i know that, i heard about dayz before it left the country (being a kiwi).

the accent is really noticeable as most people try and lose it real quick

Being Australian, the accent was really noticeable to me too. Shame there was no footage of the actual zombies throughout that video, my main criticism about DayZ in its beta form is the movement of zombies. It’s forgivable being a beta & entirely online based but I hope they can fix the animations for the stand alone.

@4 the animation set looks to be the same, motion capture isn’t cheap.

i do know the AI behind the zombie has been toted as changed and that is meant to improve preformence, and maybe it will improve animations

i wouldn’t hold my breathe though, but at least the zeds shouldn’t zigzag any more :D

Woof, the standalone version looks so much better than the mod.
