Ouya console going to retail in June, costs $99

Ouya is heading to retail in June at just $99. The crowd-funded console made waves on Kickstarter, and the company has also confirmed that pre-orders have now shipped to backers.

The Wall Street Journal reports that stockists of the Android-powered console will include Amazon, GameStop, Target and Best Buy.

Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman has revealed that additional controllers will cost $49.99.

The console is open platform, a move which has caught the eye of many developers already. The Ouya Kickstarter campaign also amassed an impressive $8,596,475 in funding.

I really don’t see this or that Gamestick selling many units. I think the people who backed them on Kickstarter are about the only people who will buy them! A few hardcore nuts with too much free money and time as well but that’s about it.

That’s $98 too expensive.
