Firefall to separate PvE and PvP Battleframes

Firefall is changing the way equipment works so that it can provide a "balanced and entertaining" experience for both PvE and PvP.

In upcoming updates, developer Red 5 Studios will disallow crafted gear in PvP; remove PvP tiers so there is one tier and one queue; and disallow changing of weapons and abilities in instanced PvP.

To accomodate these changes, existing Battleframes will be redesigned "to be relatively equal" and to have "synergistic, interesting, better ability selections".

Red 5 has decided to move ahead with the significant shakeup because of problems with balancing across two very different kinds of play, design difficulties with custom ability sets, and the division of players into arbitrary groups based on gear rather than skill.

Although Red 5 isn't ready to go into specifics, it provides a thorough run down of the problems and proposed solutions in a new blog post.

Firefall is a free to play shooter MMO.
