Prey 2 countdown site appears, will unlock in 27 days – rumor

A countdown site going by the name of “Alien Noire” has popped up online, and NeoGAF users have dissected the source code, which seems to point towards a Prey 2 reveal in 27 days.

According to information gleaned from the GAF post, the source code contains the tags: Prey, Prey2, Prey 2, FPS, Bethesda Softworks, Human Head Studios, Alien Noire – all traces of which have since been edited out of the source code.

At the bottom, it also says: “Tommy needs your help,” and the domain is listed under : The Collective – 17677 S. Muskogee Ave – Tahlequah, Oklahoma.

This makes some sense really: Prey’s main character, Tommy, is Cherokee, and the actual real-life town of Tahlequah – situated in the foothills of the Ozark Mountains – is the capital city for two federally recognized Cherokee tribes in Oklahoma: the United Keetoowah Band of Cherokee and the modern Cherokee Nation; plus, Tommy lives on a reservation in Tahlequah in the game.

Also, The Collective could refer to the Prey 2 character Dra’Gar, who is the mafia gang leader of Ceros, and has the ability to teleport.

If you look at the symbols on the teaser site, it looks as though it will morph into the Prey 2 font once the countdown finishes.

We’ll mail Bethesda, but don’t expect any admission if they are hell-bent on teasing us. Plus, as Superannuation notes, the domain is registered through Dreamhost, which is “chiefly a personal domain registrar.” Super also notes that more the site is looked into the more “fan-based” it seems, plus Human Head seems to have moved on to other projects.

Therefore, the countdown site could also just be a hateful trick by someone. It has happened before. If it is indeed the later, don’t blame me. I just work here.

I think it’s getting to the point where the scope for games has grown beyond what creaking old consoles can offer:

Sleeping Dogs
Skyrim
GTA 5
Prey 2
Gears of War Judgement

All would have been better next gen I think

The tags “Prey, Prey2, Prey 2, FPS, Bethesda Softworks, Human Head Studios,” are no longer part of the source code. But yeah, this is definitely Prey 2

@1 and @2 There is nothing here to indicate it isn’t next gen. Plus, by everyone’s account it looks like SONY is going to reveal the PS4 this month. Also, just like when the XBOX 360 came out, there is sure to be some cross-platform games that will be on the current gen and next gen at the same time.

@3 show me a cross platform launch title that came out for ps3 and xbox which was actually good because about 99% of them were all buggy and shit, even zombieu isnt even perfect

Yeah it’s definitely next gen guys…GTA 5 got pushed back into September so that should tell you when the next consoles are coming out, safe to assume Prey 2 will definitely be next gen as well, since they could be out as early as June

GTA 5 will be released on current gen consoles. The game probably costed tons of millions and R* won’t waste its time by making it a launch title for two systems that might face rough times at the beginning. Say nothing that the systems won’t be released together and the gap can be a lengthy one. Neither Sony nor MS can afford exclusivity of the title.

The game probably got pushed back because of it needing some extra time. Last time I checked, the graphics weren’t really next genish.

I don’t get all this talk about GTA V being for next-gen all of a sudden. Do people forget that they have been working 5+ years on this game for the current hardware? As if they are gonna thrown that down the drain and alienate the huge fanbases of both 360 and PS3…no way. A port to the next-gen consoles later perhaps? Kinda like the ports of the PSP GTA’s to PS2? probably….but first on the current consoles.

Stop getting irrational, people. There is not even a slight hint at it becoming next-gen. So don’t expect it, otherwise you’ll get disappointed for no reason.

Indeed. People are going to be extremely disappointed when they realise that all the next gen is going to do is give us slightly prettier graphics.

Looking forward to hearing what this is all about though. Loved the pants off the first one.

Holy crap. I can just vaguely remember one of my roommates playing Prey on PC back in university, and that was YEARS ago. Part 2 is just approaching a countdown now? Damn.
