Heroes of Newerth update 3.0 focuses on helping new players

Heroes of Newerth may not be as well known as other MOBAs but by gum it wants to make it easy for you to like it. The latest major update, which brings us to version 3.0, adds a revamped walkthrough for beginners; an in-game "Learnatorium" with tutorial videos; referral and report systems to help you find friends to play with and pour scorn on foes; and AI bots to practice with. This last feature is detailed in a developer diary through the break.
