Battlefield: new game will launch next year, says EA

Battlefield was highlighted as a big winner for EA during the publisher's investor call last night - we covered the entire report here. We also reported that Medal of Honor: Warfighter's poor performance has resulted in it being dropped from rotation, leaving space for a more Battlefield titles. Last night, EA confirmed that a new Battlefield title is on the way next year. Could it be Bad company 3 at last?

It's a scant quote this one, but during last night's investor call, EA labels president Frank Gibeau stated that the publisher "will be launching a Battlefield game next year” and he added that the company is "very excited to show you guys more detail on that coming soon."

Now the speculation begins. Is this Bad Company 3, something new or next-gen - given that EA confirmed it has next-gen (or as it said, "gen-four") Battlefield plans in motion last night - or is this just a way of hyping Battlefield 4? Discuss below.
