Xbox 360 lifetime sales set to catch Wii in UK

Xbox 360 sales in the UK look set to overtake the Wii. According to GFK Chart-Track, Microsoft's console was just 200,000 units behind at the end of December, having outsold Nintendo's product by over four times in 2012.

Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2 remain the highest sellers in the UK. These are followed by the Wii and Xbox 360 in third and fourth respectively. Before Christmas, Nintendo confirmed 8 million consoles had shifted in the UK. Will 2013 finally be the year Microsoft topples its nearest UK sales competitor?

The Wii is still comfortable on a global scale. A total of 97 million Wii's had been sold by September 2012, compared to 70 million Xbox 360 consoles (October 2012) and 70 million PS3's (November 2012).

Cheers to CVG for the data.
