SimCity Digital Deluxe Edition adds European landmarks, Mac version coming

Tuesday, 29th January 2013 15:09 GMT By Nick Akerman

SimCity’s general loveliness doesn’t know when to stop. EA has released a new trailer showcasing the advantages of picking up the Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes three exclusive tile sets and a handful of well-known landmarks.

Those who buy the Digital Deluxe Edition will be able to enjoy the Eiffel Tower, Brandenburg Gate and Big Ben with the Paris, Berlin and London sets. Stereotypical vehicles, including French Police cars, German trains and British buses are also thrown in.

Mac users also have reason to be encouraged. Maxis has updated its release date to Spring 2013, while the PC date remains at March 5 in North America. This is followed by releases on March 7 and 8 in Japan and Europe respectively. Mac and PC users will be able to play together on the same maps.

The Mac version cannot be pre-ordered just yet.

As someone who was involved in the closed Beta, I’m not sure I’ll be pre ordering.

Well, not brilliant. What worried me most was how small the city size is – lots of people have asked if that was just a demo thing, but theres a resounding silence from Maxis / EA. I fear it has been consolified.

Also, it seemed to be way too easy, and there doesn’t seem to be any terraforming of the land before you start.

Admittedly it was just a beta, but they haven’t exactly calmed my fears that it’s going to be a shadow of SimCity 4.

Yeah I also heard some people saying that. It’s because they’ve done all this region stuff now, so it’s a massive map with 5 or something different regions. It kinda feels cheap if it’s like that in singleplayer… because then you could just have one city for everyone. Police city, power city etc.
