Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn shows off new look for races

Final Fantasy 14: A Realm Reborn boasts a number of makeovers, but for many dedicated fan, nothing is so important as how player characters look. This bundle of screenshots show the new Hydaelyn races available in the relaunch.

In the original version of Final Fantasy 14, not every race supported both genders. When A Realm Reborn releases later this year, it will include two gender choices for all races.

The latest producer’s letter included a look at these new options. All of these will be available to try in the MMORPG’s upcoming beta, which is undated.

Thanks, Siliconera.

I still don’t understand how they did that. The most stand-out example really is the galka; they actually made them look far, far worse than the FF XI galka. I know they’re not called the galka in FF XIV, they have some silly otehr name, but they’re still galka.

They lack a lot of the really alien features the original galka had, and they now just look like big, bulky humans. What I don’t understand is that if they’re going to do that, why not just add it as a new body-type for humans? That way you can have rotund humans, rather than rotund humans pretending not to be rotund humans.

And really, there was nothing greater than a galka bard.

@1 But isn’t this a different world from FF XI? And now it has passed trough a apocalypse of sorts? I think with this lore they can change the races as much as they want…
