Heavy Rain composer passes away at 56
Normand Corbeil, the composer who worked with Quantic Dream and created part of the Heavy Rain soundtrack has passed away at the age of 56 from Pancreatic Cancer.
The news was confirmed on The Cancer Forums by Corbeil’s son, who posted, “My father, Normand Corbeil, 56, passed away today at 2:56 PM. He was a great composer and an amazing dad… I am in shock.”
According to 8bitfix, and courtesy of GameInformer, his son’s signature on the forum reads:
“- Dad, 56, diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer August 15, 2012.
- Dad passed away January 25, 2013 at 2:56 PM.”
Corbeil won many awards for his composition work, including BAFTA and AIAS awards for Heavy Rain. His site has a full list of his awards.

A very sad piece of news to start the week
– I was lucky enough to interview the great Normand Corbeil a couple of years ago when he won his BAFTA for Heavy Rain.
He said he was a very lucky man and was so down to earth in his reaction. He also found it overwhelming that I thought of him as one of the best video game composers ever.
