Gabe Newell & J.J. Abrams to deliver DICE 2013 keynote

Star Wars VII director J.J. Abrams will deliver this year’s DICE – Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain – Summit keynote alongside Valve founder Gabe Newell. The lecture, titled “Storytelling Across Platforms: Who Benefits Most, the Audience or the Player?” will take place on February 6th.

In a press release issued today Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences President Martin Rae said of the discussion, “J.J. thoughtfully weaves together suspense, action, emotion, and fun into every one of his projects – elements every game developer aspires to capture as well.

“Each year, the D.I.C.E. Summit sets the tone for the year ahead in games and adding J.J. and Gabe’s shared insights is a natural fit as we see all forms of entertainment converge.”

DICE 2013 runs from February 5th-8th and will present a string of panels that discuss the ever-changing entertainment world. We’ll keep our eyes peeled for any gaming nuggets to fall out of the event. Stay tuned next month.

Thanks Joystiq.

Might need shades in the front row, lest ye be blinded by the lens flare.

Dave, are you sure? :D because “Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain” sounds like something Gabe Newell would want to talk about, and the latter is something JJ Abrams might want to talk about. either way sounds like an interesting speech to look forward to.
