Smash Bros. 3DS & Wii U builds to be shown at E3 2013, says Sakurai

Super Smash Bros. Wii U screens were confirmed for an E3 2013 showing by Nintendo president Satoru Iwata during this week's edition of Nintendo Direct, but no word was given on the 3DS build. Now, Smash Bros. creator has confirmed that he's bringing the handheld version to the show in some form as well.

Sakurai tweeted his desire to bring both builds to E3, and a rough translation offered by IGN stated, "Wii U and 3DS versions - I would like to show you both", he said of E3, and added “Other games have had visuals shown, but you still have to wait for Smash Bros. But we'll be able to release something better.”

Although Sakurai has stated that he'd rather make fans wait for Smash Bros. than hype it up too much in the past, he apologised that the game was announced as early as it was.

So, does this mean Smash Bros. screens, footage or demo pods? Iwata said during Nintendo Direct that the game would appear in screen form only, but Sakurai's tweet casts new speculation over what - precisely - will be shown.

We'll keep our ears to the ground for new information as it happens.

What about you, readers? Are you excited for a new Smash Bros. title?
