EA has declared its Origin for Mac alpha trial open, and gamers can take part right now. The publisher posted its Mac client this morning and is encouraging users to check it out and claim a free game.

An update on the EA blog reel stated, “With Origin for Mac we’ll be able to offer the same Origin experience and features that define our PC app — cloud storage, auto-patching, friends list, and more — to Mac users everywhere. We’re very excited about the upcoming launch of Origin for Mac and the opportunity to reach the millions of Mac-based gamers out there.”

You can grab the Origin Mac alpha client here, but the update also warned that users will not be able to access the ‘Origin Store tab’ just yet, but assured that it will be populated with titles when the full store launches.

Participants can also grab a free copy of PopCap’s Bookworm by visiting their ‘My Games library’ tab. it’s free to keep indefinitely. There’s also a feedback button that lets participants share their thoughts on the alpha with EA.

Let us know if you check it out below.
