The Cave reviews are go, get the scores here

The Cave, Ron Gilbert’s latest platform adventure title has entered the review stage, and with it a dose of scores have begun flooding the internet like the rising tide in some faraway limestone cavern full of stalactites. Google ‘stalactites’ then check out the scores below.

IGN – 7.9/10
Games Radar – 4/5
VGRevolution – 8/10
Eurogamer.de – 6/10
CVG – 7.9/10
OXM – 7/10
Shopto – ‘No Score’
GIGA - 79/100
Digital Spy – 3/5

Stace Harman interviewed Gilbert on The Cave’s development last month. Check out what he had to say here.

Got a score we’ve missed? Whack it in the comment box below and we’ll add it to our list.

@3
I’m guessing that’s the wrong link Joe?

Will grab the trial on 360 then buy on WiiU if I like it I think.

I was expecting bigger scores to be honest, but I really don’t mind them. I’ll still get it.

I’m sorry but the reviews are bullshit. I’ve been playing it since last week and i’m loving it. Brilliant puzzles, awesome characters and the humour is fabulous. For a XBLA title it’s quite long and plenty of replay value.

C’mon Moonwalker, the only one that’s subpar is Eurogamer germany …

I’m sorry…but a 7.9 is too low for this game. OXM with their 7…wtf? And games that get released on a yearly basis and milked the SHIT out still get 8′s or even 9+’s….we finally get a very original game that mixes adventuring/puzzling and platforming and there’s very little wrong with it. Ah well…i 9.5′ed that game in my review. It simply deserves it. The only downer is that you can’t make a new savegame without overwriting.

@11 Let’s not kid ourselves. 8/10 from “generic reviewer” could be anywhere between 4/10 to 7/10 from a serious critic.

Certainly has me a bit worried, although anything related to adventure games tends to be rated a lot lower by default. Puzzles are dead, baby.

Play the demo yourselves, that’s what i suggest. I hope the demo gives a good indication of the game. You will see how awesome it is.

hey moon, thanks for your early impression thread earlier.
i know, it sucks if a game you really love only receives soso scores.
i think it’s one of those games some people don’t really get or feel, while others totally adore it.
all reviews are pretty solid though, showing that it’s obviously a good game for most and an outstanding game for some.
i for one will definitley get it anyway.
