Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate's hammer weapon detailed

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate could well be the best version of the phenomenally popular action RPG, but like every entry in the series, it's not going to be super friendly to newcomers. Learn all about the hammer weapon as you prepare yourself for the challenge.

In a post on Capcom Unity, the hammer's qualities are outlined. It's slow, close ranged, and has no blocking skill - but it causes impact damage with each hit, and it's just light enough to allow for a quick jog around avoiding enemy attacks.

Being an impact type, you can't use the hammer to cut off monster's tails, but you can smack them in the face to inflict dizzy status.The hammer's attacks can be charged to trigger various alternative moves like area of effect damage.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is due on 3DS and Wii U in March.
