Disney Infinity is a multiplatform title slated for June, trailer and shots released

Disney announced Disney Infinity today, after many a rumor popped up over the last few months, as a multiplatform title featuring Pixar and Disney characters running around the place.

Currently in development at Avalanche Software, the game makes use of interactive AR toys which can be inserted into the sandbox game, much like Skylanders Giants.

The initial set of toys will number 40 with 17 character figures along with Disney Infinity Power Discs which can be used to power the playable characters up and provide more customization and abilities. Players can also created their own worlds using Toy Box Mode.

Here's a list of features culled from the press release:

  • Disney Infinity Interactive Pieces – Initially a line of 40 collectible interactive pieces will be introduced that allow players to expand and customize their play experiences.
  • Disney Infinity Interactive Character Figures – Seventeen character figures will allow players to experience a variety of their favorite characters in true to property experiences and in “Toy Box” mode.
  • Disney Infinity Base – When figures are placed on the Infinity base, they unlock the world and play experiences of Disney Infinity.
  • Disney Infinity Power Discs – Interactive discs can be placed on the Infinity base to power up characters and “Toy Box” with unique powers, customizations and gadgets.

Disney Infinity titles are in development for consoles, PC, and mobile and is slated for a June release. Trailers for both North America and the UK are below.
