Wii U Virtual Console development is 'moving on', will support GamePad-only play

Wii U may have launched with functioning online store and an array of digital titles to boot, but the burning question regards the whereabouts of Virtual Console, Nintendo's retro game hub.

We want this on Wii U please Nintendo ^

While the Virtual Console is available in full when playing your Wii U in original Wii mode - seriously check it, it's all there - the Wii U still doesn't have its own version.

Speaking with Kotaku, a Nintendo America rep said, "We do not have any specifics to share at this time. However, we are moving ahead with development of Virtual Console for Wii U, and we plan to make it so you can play it on the Wii U GamePad alone."

Hot damn. GamePad only? Hands up if you're excited at the idea of playing Streets of Rage 2 in the comfort and safety of your bed?

No? Just me then.

Thanks CVG.
