Capcom Arcade Cabinet headed to console networks in Japan

Capcom will celebrate its 30th anniversary with a special Arcade Cabinate Collection for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

According to Siliconera's translation of Famitsu leaks, the Cabinet is itself a free downloadable application, through which classic Capcom titles can be purchased, although one will be bundled with the app.

These reproductions are said to be quite cheap and will be available in packs. It sounds similar to the iOS app of the same name.

Capcom Japan boasts that the arcade titles have been reproduced perfectly, but in a nod to modern features, will support online leaderboards.

A teaser site has been opened for the digital release.

The publisher has promised more information in early February; fingers crossed for a local release, too, as Capcom USA registered a related trademark late last year.

Thanks, Joystiq, Gematsu.
