Minecraft: man attempts to remake Earth to 1:1500 scale

It’s Monday morning, which many of you will likely be down about right now, so here’s something properly insane and impressive to help lighten the mood. Minecraft user lentebriesje is attempting to recreate the world to 1:1500 scale. See the mad images of his work below the jump.

I mean, just look at it. Lentebriesje is pulling off the feat using a tool called WorldPainter, which is a map generator designed specifically for Minecraft. However, he wants to go one step further and make each continent as geographically precise as possible.

The project is called Planet Minecraft and Lentebriesje has posted an image gallery of the continents as they develop.

PC Gamer posted their own images of the project, including the English Channel:

And the Californian Coast:

What do you think? Impressive or a fool’s errand?

Thanks MP1st.

If anyone is thinking about downloading and using this map I suggest you use Optifine http://minecrafthub.org/2013/01/optifine-mod to help reduce the lag
