Torchlight 2 passed 1 million sales in 2012
Torchlight 2 made over 1 million sales between its launch in September and the end of 2012, developer Runic Games announced on Twitter. This figure may have been given a boost by the indie sequel’s inclusion in Steam’s autumn and winter sales, but the action RPG has been well-received by critics and fans, and opinion is divided as to whether it beats out unintended rival Diablo 3. A Mac port is expected this year.
Thanks, Joystiq.

This is sad! Such a great game selling only a million because of wrong and stupid preconceptions while others selling millions because they have a better marketing campaign.. Humanity is a sorry ass bunch.

It deserves to do better but if I’m to be brutally honest, Torchlight, TL2 and Diablo III all lack what made diablo 1 my favorite ever hack slash looter..
Horror. Atmosphere. A fear of what could be around the next corner. Genuine Risk vs. reward.
IN TL1/TL2 I have never felt threatened or engrossed in the story, but both are very playable in their own right.
In Diablo 3, I thought the story and “bad guys” were an absolute joke and even on the hardest difficulty, I never felt afraid, instead I felt frustrated.
