Project Godus hits Kickstarter target two days from deadline

Wednesday, 19th December 2012 21:42 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Peter Molyneux’s latest god game has hit its Kickstarter crowd-funding target with just under 48 hours breathing room.

Project Godus, which aims to draw on the best aspects of classic Molyneux titles such as Populous and Dungeon Keeper, set a £450,000 target. Its initial funding surge slowed as the Kickstarter period matured, leading to fears it might not reach its goal; Molyneux said belief that he is rich enough to fund the game himself harmed its progress.

At time of writing, the project has 44 hours on the clock and has reached a total of £453,110, with over 14,500 backers.

22 Cans has set several stretch goals; at £460,000 it expects to add three additional single- and multiplayer game modes. At £475,000 players will be able to create their own sects.

At £485,000, BAFTA Award-winning writer James Leach will pen the story, and at £500,000 the team will add both first-person world crafting in “possession mode” and a co-operative multiplayer mode.

Finally, at £550,000, support for Linux and Ouya will be added.

Project Godus is expected on Android, iDevice, Mac and PC in September 2013. 22 Cans recently released multiplayer footage.

Thanks, Develop.

I know Molyneux is a bit excentric, but he should really start addressing the elephant in the room.

It’s not because he’s rich, it’s because his performance has been poor and he’s promised so much outrageous shit over the years without following through.

It’s a lot easier to give money to people when once they acknowledge the obvious.
