UK Charts: Black Ops 2 holds top spot for 5th week

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 has held its place at top of the UK charts for a fifth consecutive week since it launched November 13th, holding off competition from the rest of the pre-xmas pack. Get the details below as they happen.

As usual we'll have the full chart once score-keepers UKIE release them into the wild, but yes indeed, Black Ops 2 has held firm at first place.

This is despite the game seeing a quicker drop in sales when compared to Modern Warfare 3 and the original Black Ops, suggesting that franchise decline has started, although the fact that it grossed over $1 million in its first 15 days isn't to be sniffed at.

It comes in spite of Treyarch making considered attempts to shake up the franchise without breaking the formula that makes Black Ops 2 a Call of Duty title. We covered it at length at launch:

Black Ops 2 multiplayer: future imperfect.
Black Ops 2 campaign debriefed: time paradox.
Black Ops 2 Zombies: it’s a return bus ride to hell.

It's also got a firm gun balancing stance, with Treyarch's David Vonderhaar responding to the game's critics at length, slamming claims that some weapons are more powerful than others - hello MP7.

Here's the full chart:
