Heroes of Newerth site hacked, passwords potentially at risk

Heroes of Newerth has suffered a site hack, leaving many player passwords potentially at risk. Developer S2 Games is urging all players to take precautionary steps. Check out their advice below.

The Heroes of Newerth forum was updated with a message regarding the issue over the weekend.

The message reads, "At 2:30 PM EST we became aware that a Heroes of Newerth password security breach had occurred.

“We encourage everyone to change any passwords that were shared with your Heroes of Newerth account. Do not change your Heroes of Newerth account password at this time.

“Disregard any out-of-game sources of information at this time.”

So essentially, don't change your actual Heroes of Newerth password but do change the password of any linked accounts - registered email addresses and so on. The game's community manager is actively encouraging gamers to get in touch with them over Twitter should you have any questions on the matter.

Thanks Gamechup, and thanks to Karooo for the tip.
