Agni’s Philosophy tech videos demonstrate character tweaking
A couple new videos for Agni’s Philosophy, Square’s Luminous engine tech demo, have popped up. The videos show various changes being implemented to the characters’ appearances. Square Enix first demonstrated the tech at an after-hours E3 2012 event. Have a watch below via AGB. Thanks, manamana.

This is really good looking stuff but Square’s problem isn’t their graphics.

It’s fun to drool over tech demos like this, but unfortunately they are completely meaningless… We still are not anywhere close to having games populated with characters as detailed as NVIDIA’s sexy fairy tech demo from many years ago. They add another fancy feature to her with every new generation of GPUs, but thanks to console hardware being stuck in the past and not changing for nigh on ten years, the software does not (can not) catch up.
If Square wants to be the one who literally revolutionizes gaming graphics for the new decade by releasing a title for PC where EVERYTHING in it looks like this tech demo, that’d be great. But that’s wishful thinking. Instead, we’re probably going to have to wait another 5-10 years, toward the end of the next console cycle, for anything close to that.

2008-2009 Nvidia’s technology.
Cool, Next gen consoles will introduce that tech… so much for next gen.

There is absolutely nothing that this feature adds to development. Its just straight up vanity much like Square polishing rocks for FFXIII.
