Dizzy Returns Kickstarter wont make funding goal, devs respond
Dizzy Returns won’t hit its lofty Kickstarter target of £350,000. It needs at least £40,000 in funding a day to reach its goal. Get the details below.

The Dizzy Returns Kickstarter is sitting a paltry £24,605 of it £350,000 goal – that’s 774 backers with just seven days left to go.
GI.Biz reports that the Oliver Twins posted a statement on the project’s status via Kickstarter that read, “As of today the total amount pledged stands at just over £23,000 of our £350,000 goal – in order to meet that we’d need over £40,000 pledged every day, and realistically that’s not going to happen.
“There’s certainly no shame in admitting that though, and we believe that rather than posting updates under the pretence that we might hit our target, it’s much better to be honest and upfront with you, our backers.”
It comes after concerns over the £350,000 sum asked for by the twins, a figure deemed to be too high by many puzzled gamers.
VG247 asked the big question: ‘Has the Kickstarter bubble burst?’ in a piece written by our very own Pat Garratt. Check it out and chip in below, as we’d like to hear what you think on the matter.

The amount they are asking for is just stupid, especially when other developers are doing so much more for less money. I don’t think they bubble has burst, it just proves that even the kickstarter crowd wont fund someone’s Ferrari.

Plus it’s Codemasters. It’s not like they’ve produced anything worthwhile over the last few years.
It probably has nothing to do with Kickstarter peaking, and everything to do with people having wasted money on one of their games in the last couple of years.

Slightly unfair. Their racing games are fairly popular.

Everytime i glance at the headlines for this game i think its about a Guilty Gear spinoff with Dizzy.

@3 I don’t know what their sales look like, but it doesn’t make the games themselves any better. Since GRiD they just stopped caring.

I would look at it less as “Codemasters” and more as “Blitz Games Studios”, which is what the Oliver Twins run. It’s basically a turd factory for squeezing out shit licensed games. Anyone who looks at this Kickstarter and says “ok, what have you done lately” like I did and checks out their list of output is going to laughand say “lol no” exactly like I did.
I also rolled with laughter when I read the Oliver Twins bio on Kickstarter, the only highlight they can come up with from their 22 years of Game Blitz Studios is Epic Mickey 2 – a game they ported to xbox/ps3/PC and claim “co-development” on. Porting is not co-development, it’s porting.

It was a lot of money to ask. Still… kind of sad about this.
