Rockstar North developing 'cutting edge' next-gen tech - report

GTA 5 developer Rockstar North is now hiring for an 'experienced programmer' to assist the studio in developing next-gen tech. See the job listing and details below.

The job posting reads, "Rockstar North is currently seeking an experienced programmer to focus on core engine development", and adds, "This is an exciting opportunity to develop cutting-edge architectures and high performance systems for current and next-gen platforms."

Meanwhile, Rockstar San Diego is also hiring for a physics programmer. The role seems to incorporate new - possibly next-gen tech as well - as the descriptor reads, "RAGE team members work closely with game teams to integrate new technologies as well as evangelize best practices and process in using those technologies across Rockstars studios."

Rockstar North and Rockstar San Diego are both hiring also hiring network programmers.

The San Diego job descriptor could point to multiplayer in either GTA 5 or the studio's oft-rumoured Red Dead Redemption follow-up, as it calls for "A networking programmer who specializes in the synchronization of the wide range of gameplay mechanics found in a Rockstar open world game", and will involved, "working with engineering and design staff to integrate dynamic multiplayer into all areas of gameplay".

Either way something is going on at Rockstar. What do you make of the job roles?

Cheers to NowGamer for the find, and OXM for the additional insight.
