Halo 4: Spartan Ops co-op campaigns return in January 2013
Halo 4: Spartan Ops, the episodic co-op campaign for the shooter, will resume on January 21 according to a video shown at the VGAs. The January episodes will conclude the season with five entries. 343 Industries has hinted around that there may be a second season in the works, and it wouldn’t shock us whatsoever if it were announced sometime after the last episode is released. The trailer shown during the VGAs has been pulled off YouTube by Viacom, which owns Spike TV and the VGAs. When the video becomes available again, we’ll let you know.

These last few weeks i’ve realized how overrated Spartan Ops really is. It’s the same damn levels recycled week after week, with the same objectives (hit that button, kill all these enemies that i mark for you, then extract). So repetitive.

Yet much of the press keep trotting out the standard M$ line that it’s innovative (Daniel Kayser said it again on Spike during the awards). The concept is fine, the execution is dire. Stop rewarding poor game design! Having endless lives encourages lazy play, the terrible writing puts us to sleep, and the recycled nature of it all ensures that you don’t want to come back for more. Clearly these ‘journalists’ don’t actually play SPOPS all the way through.

Yeah Spartan Ops is great. I prefer it to Firefight, its more dynamic and you get to use plenty of vehicles.
Loving the parallel story too. The cutscenes are very nicely done.
