Def Jam founder launches new game studio greenROK

Def Jam founder Russell Simmons has announced his latest foray into gaming, greenROK Ventures. It's a new game studio that looks to create titles with an educational slant, and will expand into television and theatre.

Simmons' last venture into games was the karaoke title Def Jam Rapstar, but now his new studio aims to make a broad range of titles for the multi-format mobile market.

In an official statement, Simmons said, "Entertainment is what resonates quickest with youth, which today means online and mobile activities (based on broad affirming data) and will continue to be the driving force to reach youth worldwide,

"Mission G-ROK will allow kids to exercise their creative muscles by combining storytelling, music, math and science."

The studio's first title will be educational and aimed at the pre-13 market and has yet to be announced.
