Path of Exile open beta delayed

Free to play dungeon crawler Path of Exile has pushed back its open beta date a full month.

A forum post explains that the delay will allow Grinding Gear Games to give the beta the support it deserves, as many of its staff will be absent over the holiday break, a potentially problematic scenario for the inevitable technical dilemmas of open beta.

The beta will now launch on January 23, 2013, missing a scheduled December launch. It will be accompanied by a final character wipe and the 0.10.0 patch.

Path of Exile has been in closed testing since August 2011, and Grinding Gear has promised to increase the number of alpha testers and give away keys while players wait for the beta.

Thanks, Ausgamers.
