Valve registers three movie site domains

Valve has registered three domain names for what could be a handful of movies, or one large project. The domains are FreeToPlayTheMovie.com, AheadOfTheGameTheMovie.com and AheadOfTheGameMovie.com. Get the details below.

PCGamesN reports that the Reddit community unearthed the following three web domains registered by Valve's IT Manager Chris Grinstead in August:

  • FreeToPlayTheMovie.com
  • AheadOfTheGameMovie.com
  • AheadOfTheGameTheMovie.com.

None of the pages are currently active, and as the site points out, Valve did recently release a 20-minute documentary focusing on DotA 2 tournament The International, suggesting that the studio could be looking to branch out its documentary-making exploits.

Note the mention of free-to-play in the web addresses. Both Team Fortress 2 and DotA 2 are free titles, so if these are indeed movie projects in development, the films could focus on either game. Speculate below.
