Steam Big Picture Mode released, offers celebratory sale
Valve has brought Steam’s Big Picture mode out of beta at last, and to celebrate, it’s throwing a sale on a number of games with controller support, which is particularly advantageous when you’re crashed out on your couch using the big screen-friendly viewing option. Deep discounts of up to 75% are on offer. Be sure to check out Portal 2 in particular, if you haven’t already, as it has a new split-screen co-op option.
Thanks, Rock Paper Shotgun.

And it is just as I expected, shiny and useless! Just what a gamepad user wants.

I grade the usefulness of something like this on how the (very non-technical) missus finds operating it and on that subject it was bloody easy as it saved her finding the right icon on the desktop on a 42″ tv across the room whilst at 1920×1080 which previously hasn’t been much fun.

Pressing the Xbox logo on the pad brings up Big Picture now (in-game and desktop) which is pretty damned useful. Clashes with GFWL, but hopefully that shit is dying off anyway.
