Microsoft’s Surface tablet will run you $899 for the 64GB model, and $999 for the 128GB model, the company has confirmed.

Both versions will include a Surface pen with Palm Block technology, the ability to use a Touch Cover or Type Cover which are sold separately, includes the Dark Titanium VaporMg casing, dual 2×2 MIMO antennas and a kickstand.

Surface with Windows 8 Pro contains an Intel Core i5 processor with a 10.6” 16:9 ClearType display that runs at a 1920×1080 full HD and a full-size USB 3.0 port, while the Mini DisplayPort can drive an external display up to 2560X1440 resolution.

OMFG. Even for this one you need to buy the touch cover seperately? Ouch man…

I edited already, my bad for not reading properly.

I will await reviews though.Cause for the first one, some reviews said it was a bit slow and what not. And it’s not that it’s a small amount of money, it’s quite a bit :)

Why is a double amount of memory always 100 dollars (or euros) more expensive? Whether it’s from 8 to 16, 16 to 32 or 64 to 128, always so much more money for a hard drive that is way too small. I don’t get the ridiculous price for storage in mobile devices anyway, it’s terribly expensive and way too little.

If it contained a GPU about as powerful as either the GT640m or Radeon 6770m, then it certainly would be a decent price for a tablet PC. But since I expect it to contain Intel HD 4000 graphics, I couldn’t care less.

@5 I was thinking the exact same thing, just don’t see the point in this product.

Here are it’s specs: http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-GB/surface-with-windows-8-pro/specifications

Only a HD 4000 for those crazy prices. Think I@ll be waiting till they bring out V2 and reduce the price…

HD 4000 aint bad can run all the current games on low/medium, the overall pricetag is too high though.

Crazy prices? Well if you compare the specs with a macbook air this wins and is still cheaper (and thinner). So to me it looks very reasonable.

So basically my year old and much cheaper i5 laptop with a gForce 540m will run circles around this thing?

What a pity. i really had high hopes for the surface pro. It seemed like the perfect machine to fill the void between laptops and tablets. Now i’m afraid it doomed to fail as an overpriced gadget.

@DIZZYGEAR Well, your laptop probably isn’t even close to as thin and light as the Surface. And your laptop is probably made of cheap plastic.

@15 A 15 inch screen laptop is ~3 cms thick and weighs around 2.5 kgs. That’s thin and easy to carry around. It also costs ~500 dollars. To say no to that and yes to this tablet shows 2 things: how your parents raised you and how much money do you have.

@16 Yeah my laptop is made out of cast iron and cardboard. Fact remains that it can run modern games with mid to high settings at 1920×1080 with decent framerates unlike the surface pro.
