Wii U Game Pad supports Inficolour 3D imagery - report

Assassin's Creed 3 on Wii U reportedly supports 3D imagery on the Game Pad.

IMGMR claims to have been tipped off by an Ubisoft Montreal staffer as to the Game Pad's capacity.

The site has screens showing a menu with a 3D Settings category. According to directions given, you can switch between side-by-side and top-bottom stereoscopy, using Inficolour glasses - that is, green and magenta 3D glasses. The 3D effect can be scaled from zero to ten.

The feature means the game can be experienced in 3D whether using the Game Pad or a 3D-equipped TV, as Assassin's Creed 3 can apparently be played entirely from the Game Pad.

The Wii U, like the Xbox 360, doesn't advertise itself as a 3D-capable console, but developers can build in support for 3D-enabled TVs as they can with PC games; Crysis 2 is one example of a 3D-enabled multi-platform game.

Assassin's Creed 3 arrives with the Wii U at launch; it's available now in the US and hits Europe and Australia on November 30.
