2K Games president Christoph Hartmann doesn’t doubt Wii U “will be successful”

2K Games president Christoph Hartmann is convinced Wii U will be successful because “Nintendo always finds its crowd,” he’s told MCV.

Admitting he had some doubts about the success of the console’s predecessor, Hartmann says he harbors no such qualms with Wii U.

“Nintendo always impresses and surprises me,” he said. “The team there has so much knowledge built up over many, many years. There have been people doubting the Wii U because they don’t really understand it. I wasn’t sure about the Wii and I was proved wrong, proved wrong by my own people, which I like the most because we sold a lot of Carnival Games.

“I believe the Wii U offers something special and we will be surprised how consumers will get attached. There’s nothing in my body, not a single piece, doubting that the Wii U will be successful.”

Wii U is out now in North America and lands in Europe on November 30.

Sounds like a tease for the much anticipated “Carnival Games U”.

I think its success will be somewhere between the current N64 levels, decent pick up but won’t be anywhere near as high as the Wii.

There is zero chance it out sells the Wii. I also doubt the next offerings from MS/Sony outsell the Wii. I think consoles have peaked. I expect mobile to hook to tvs and use wireless pads. I also expect set top boxes that focus on services rather then games to be big. Just tuff to call those consoles. Plus they will prolly come out by several different manufacters, games won’t likly be resident, they will be services that you subscribe too. Like OnLive, sorta. Live and Plus and Steam and Apple. That is my guess.
