Tomb Raider Steam pre-orders offer scaling incentives

Square Enix has dived onto the tiered Steam pre-order reward bandwagon by offering Tomb Raider fans better bonuses as more people shovel over their cash.

The action adventure effort is due in March, but those who pony up for a Steam pre-order now receive a 10% discount.

As pre-order numbers climb, they'll also score a number of rewards. The first tier is a free copy of Lara Croft and the Guardian of the Light, which can be gifted or kept.

The second reward tier adds the Challenge Tomb DLC for Tomb Raider, an exclusive tomb filled with unique environment puzzles.

Should the max rank be reached, PC pre-orders will also score the Endurance DLC Pack. This content has not yet been detailed, and won't be revealed until January 2013, but if it ends up being unlocked, you'll be "amongst the first to experience" it, apparently.

The digital Survival Edition is also 10-% off at pre-order and includes a DLC pack as well as digital copies of a 32-page mini art book compiled by art director Brian Horton, the soundtrack, and a double-sided map of the island.

Tomb Raider's also coming to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 - check out the special editions for the US and Europe.

Thanks, Ausgamers.
