Black Ops 2 sells over 10,000 copies at Blockbuster UK in “five minutes”

Black Ops 2 sold over 10,000 copies on launch day through Blockbuster stores in the UK.

The figure was divulged to MCV by Blockbuster UK’s commercial director Gerry Butler.

“It was fantastic to see thousands of people turnout at over 450 Blockbuster stores last night and our staff really getting into the spirit of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2,” he said. “We could not have served all our customers so quickly without the dedication of our staff so huge thanks for them for working so hard on the biggest night in gaming.

“We sold over 10,000 copies of the game in the first five minutes alone and we anticipate that our stores will continue to serve hundreds of COD fans today as the rush continues to get the latest game in this record breaking franchise.”

Call of Duty: Black Ips2 was released globally today on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, and you can check out our London retail launch video here.

The shooter will release on Wii U November 18 in North America and November 30 in Europe.

Maybe, maybe not.
As much as I hate most of these annualized games, at least BLOPS2 makers TRIED to do some new things with the formula. They took the series forward in time (Something that only MW1 did), introduced new campaign elements to the blockbuster formula and finally added a bit of Heavy Rain with actual choice.

Now we can safely, say the mass effect 2 is the most sold game of this gen, do the math mass effect 2 sales + cod black ops 2 sales, nice job EA you did get the most sold console game this gen, you beat activision, and with an inside job, man hats off to you EA, you are the master minds of this industry ;)

Somehow, I imagine a guy with a chronometer and a guy counting real fast for five minutes. That’s how I’d do it.
