Trials: Evolution “could” have sold over 1M according to leaderboard data

Trials: Evolution may have sold over one million copies if current, global leaderboard data is any indication; however, as XBLA Fans notes, some of the stats could have come from multiple user accounts.

If you head over to the leaderboards, you’ll see the nice, big, recorded figure of 1,001,095 players staring you in the face. There’s no telling how many accounts are multiples created by various users, but it is still an impressive number – reagrdless.

Ubisoft announced three weeks after Trials: Evolution was released that the RedLynx title had hit the 500,000 mark, and at the time it was the “highest grossing one day-sales in Xbox Live Arcade history.”

That was, until Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition was released.

Head through the links and do some math for yourself.

Ugh, how about actually not changing the contents of your source article to something that’s probably wrong?

XBLA Fans have it actually right in their text: The leaderboard shows the number of players, BUT as it is perfectly possible to use multiple gamertags on the same console with all showing up there, that’s NOT the same as copies sold.

So right now if a tiny percentage (right now just about 0,2%) of all players are non-paying, which I’d say seems highly likely, “a million sold” would already be wrong.

Granted, Joystiq got it wrong as well, so they’re equally shoddy with misquoting.

“So they’re equally shoddy with misquoting.”

Right. First I did not “change” the contents of my source article. Second, I didn’t add the XBLA Fans page until after the fact when I saw the link on Stiq after this was posted.

I will change it now. No need to be rude over it.
