Skyrim PC and PlayStation 3 content “close”

Thursday, 8th November 2012 02:44 GMT By Brenna Hillier

Bethesda has suggested frustrated PlayStation 3 users might not have much longer to wait to experience The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim’s DLC.

According to a tweet on Bethesda’s official account, the team is “also close on new Skyrim content for PS3 and PC”.

It’s not clear what content Bethesda is referring to as the two platforms are out of sync with the Xbox 360 and each other. The DLC packs which have been produced for Skyrim so far – Dawnguard and Heathfire – have both already made it to PC following initial release on Xbox 360, but technical issues have kept them from the PlayStation 3 to date.

The upcoming Dragonborn hits Xbox 360 on December 4 for 1600 MS Points, has not been dated for other platforms.

Thanks, IGN.

OK, great, now when’s it coming out? Also, I wonder how many bugs and glitches will I see? Gotta re-buy this.

I feel genuinely bad for the PS3 users, they always get the short end of the stick. On the PC, we’ve had the kind of dragon funsies this DLC offers for a good while now as mods. So no massive gain there unless the story is terribly good (Bethesda), or unless they get the more Morrowindy stuff right (and regarding the dwemer, they really didn’t).

So… this one might be entirely skippable for PC users who have the right mods, or know where/how to look. But PS3 users tend to not have mods or quick DLC delivery. You’d think Sony would try to do something about that.

I dunno, I really couldn’t justify shelling out for Skyrim (massive fucking game already) DLC. The combat system was so shit that by the time you’ve finished enough in-game content to snag the platinum, the game’s over-stayed its welcome just a little bit. I’d like Bethesda to buy Rhode Island’s combat system and release it as a patch before I’d even think about getting it…
