PlayStation: The Official Magazine US shuttered

Future Publishing's US arm has confirmed it will cease production of PlayStation: The Official Magazine.

GameInformer reports The magazine's last release will be the holiday 2012 issue.

PlayStation: The Official Magazine, abbreviated as PTOM, began life in September 1997 as the independent and unofficial PlayStation Magazine.

After Ziff Davis shuttered Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine, Future partnered with Sony to rebrand PSM as PlayStation: The Official Magazine as of October 2007.

Neither Future nor PTOM staff have issued any comment on the closure at this time, and it is unknown how the magazine's staff will be affected.

Future also publishes the UK PlayStation Official Magazine. Its long-running Nintendo Power will also cease with the December issue.

Sony has not advised whether a new magazine will replace POTM, although its worth noting that it closed down its PlayStation Network based video magazine Qore this year.
