TrackMania 2 to expand with two new entries

Trackmania 2: Canyon wasn’t the end of Nadeo’s plans for its user-generated content focused racing franchise; not by a long shot. This weekend brought the reveal trailers for two new entries, Stadium and Valley.

Stadium should be familiar to series fans, as it recreates and updates levels from Trackmania: Nations for the sequels shiny new engine. Meanwhile, Valley takes a new approach, injecting a bit of rally DNA into things. Both trailers are below, and each of the new entries is due in 2013.

TrackMania is a cousin of sorts to ShootMania, Ubisoft’s upcoming eSports contender, and will eventually be joined by QuestMania, an RPG affair, all on an interconnected social platform called ManiaPlanet which strongly encourages player-made material.

Quite looking forward to this. I always loved how absolutely barmy Trackmania is, and it’s something that I recommend to the kind of person who’s sort of interested in racing games, but is bored by the concept.

The thing with Trackmania is that it has its own approach to physics. An entirely silly approach that allows them to do wonderful things. And these trailers don’t do justice to how utterly crazy the driving in Trackmania can get.
