Guild Wars 2 hints at massive world event this month

Guild Wars 2 is soon to host a "massive one-time world event that will change Tyria forever".
The MMORPG's website advises that "something stirs in the Sea of Sorrows", along with a few screenshots.
That's all we know about the upcoming world event, except that players will be tasked with solving "a mystery of monstrous proportions in The Lost Shores". Please mean kraken.
The update is due on November 15, but regular players have a chance to preview whatever this maritime-themed surprise is, as some sort of sneak peek is included in the latest update, according to a tease on the forum.
